“Sunderland’s post-punks: now better than ever”
**** - Q MAGAZINE
This Is Not The World (or as we know it now) might be the The Futureheads message to us all during these uncertain times in the business. No longer are bands and management willing to wait around for labels to bite and provide the support to get the music out there to the fans and across the globe; it now seems a new formula has become entirely possible, providing a realistic and profitable route for many artists to strive forward in this day and age.

According to a popular internet information source, Birmingham was regarded as “the workshop of the world’ during the industrial revolution. This phrase encapsulates everything for new boys on the block, BLAKFISH. Armed with a factory full of machine gun riffs, blood curdling melodies and a touring ethic which has seen them take in every road ever built in the UK, closely followed by Europe, these four young Brummies seem intent on creating a new revolution rock for the masses.
Having been playing together in numerous guises for almost 10 years, and still barely in their 20s, their dedication to the cause is certainly not in question. With each stride taken thus far, BLAKFISH have made themselves sound braver and bolder, this being a testament to thei |

Catch Them On Vans Warped Tour All Summer
LA’s The Briggs are set to release their new effort, entitled Come All You Madmen, on June 17.
Founded by singing guitarists brothers Jason and Joey LaRocca, The Briggs are rounded out by Chris Arredondo on drums and Ryan Roberts on bass. The Brigg’s fourth release features that tight, in-your-face sound the band has honed to perfection with six solid years of touring under their belts with the likes of Bad Religion, Flogging Molly, Anti-Flag, The Living End, and Dropkick Murphys.
The dozen blistering tracks on Come All You Madmen were penned on acoustic guitar while out on the road with Dropkick Murphys. Teaming up with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones bassist Joe Gittleman as producer, the band was determined to keep their ferocious live sound intact.
Creating a more aggressive, yet melodic and folky record, Come All You Madmen finds The Briggs at their very best.

N*E*R*D* - Seeing Sounds (Star Trak / Interscope)
SYNESTHESIA - noun
A neurologically-based phenomenon in which a stimulus of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway, as when the hearing of a certain sound induces the visualization of a certain color.
You already know the story of the Neptunes. World-famous producers and songwriters, Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, over the course of their decade-long career, have literally changed the course of music. It started with the redefining of hip-hop, the two of them wielding a minimalist, synthesized palette and a limitless imagination to create a sound that was as sophisticated and elegant as it was raw and rhythmic. Soon the Neptunes would alter the landscape of pop music, as well, creating driving rhythm & blues influenced work that artists in every genre would seek out to help establish their creative impulses. Meshuggah Debut Video On Myspace Metal
It’s here, and it doesn’t disappoint! After releasing a teaser trailer last week, the Swedish calculatorcore masterminds in Meshuggah have unveiled the video for “Bleed” -- in all of its gory, uber-frightening glory. As previously reported, the clip was produced by Ian McFarland and Killswitch Productions. Directed, written and edited by McFarland and Mike Pecci, “Bleed” boasts a fittingly-cinematic horror flick tone, and some genuine scares – seriously, have you looked at that picture up there?
What the directors had to say about the video:
“Working with Meshuggah was truly an honor for us. It’s extremely cool to work with a band who is willing to allow the music and imagery to speak for itself and who does not insist on themselves being the prominent focus of the video. I think that takes real balls and I admire them as a group for doing so.”

“Scary…hits some wailing notes worthy of Ian Gillan in the second half.” – Pitchfork Media
"A more-diabolical shade of Queen...I've been waiting so long to have an indie rock band like Squeeze!"- Stereogum
“Bryan Scary put on one of the most impressive live shows I’ve seen in quite awhile. Do yourself a favor and give this a listen.” - FILTER Magazine
“Stellar debut…Incredibly talented...We think he is going to do very well.” – Perez Hilton
Following the theft of their van and gear, Bryan Scary and the Shredding Tears have finally hit some good luck. First, the van was found (sans engine, transmission, differential, trailer and gear) on the side of the 10 freeway in LA last week. Despite having to cancel a number of shows, the band is still playing the Boston, NY and DC shows, along with a Fearless TV performance.
OK, so maybe that doesn’t signal a change of luck. But this sure does: the band is featured on iTunes as the Editor's Choice this week, and h |
