East coast fans know Kix intimately. Their New Year's Eve shows at Hammerjacks are stuff of legend.. Now, fans outside the eastern seaboard get the chance to experience real rock energy up close and personal. This November two of Suicide Squeeze’s finest, These Arms Are Snakes and Russian Circles, go head to head on a whirlwind UK tour.
These Arms Are Snakes: A natural force, that thunders with constant contradiction and challenge. Self-described as, “Four men with a chronic black cloud overhead; bitter, bummed out, and bored,” they couple dark pessimism with an elemental energy that does not end.
On ‘Tail Swallower & Dove’ (released at the beginning of October) These Arms Are Snakes move through 10-songs with the cracked grace of bolted lightning, rolling and leveling, seeking a space to storm into. The band, comprised of Chris Common (drums, percussion), Brian Cook (bass, guitar, keyboards), Ryan Frederiksen (guitar, keyboards), Steve Snere (vocals, effects), have brought their non-stop work ethic of touring and beyond-intense performance to the studio with career defining result. Now they are hitting the road again to show just how it’s supposed to be don |

The first video from Bleeding Through's new album "Declaration" is here! You may have seen "Death Anxiety" this past weekend on MTV2's Headbangers Ball, now you can watch it at Trustkill or below.
Singer Brandan Schieppati chimed in to say, "The first line in 'Death Anxiety' says, 'My body will be set aflame tonight.' We knew we wanted something straightforward with this video, performance driven and without some storyline or whatever. We didn't want to be playing in a warehouse while some actors do something 'spooky' somewhere else. With that being said, that first line in the song was too hard to resist. This video had to have fire!
The only thing we told Dave Brodsky, the director, is that we wanted it to feature the band playing the song and we wanted lots of pyro. And that's exactly what we got!
We shot the video in Los Angeles which of course isn't that far from where we live in Orange County. Jona joined the band well over a year ago but this is the first opportunity we' |
The Pretenders' "Boots Of Chinese Plastic" the first single off the band's ninth studio album, the Shangri-La Music release Break Up The Concrete, and the album dethroned Coldplay for #1 at the AAA Chart according to FMQB.
Fueled by the single, great press and a unique on-line campaign the album sold over 16,000's in its first week, doubling the number of copies of the band's previous album album Loose Screw, this all achieved in a depressed album sales market which is down over 40% from six years ago when the previous album was released.
Break Up The Concrete's 11 songs were recorded in 12 days making for an album both gritty and immediate which recalls the band's earliest days. Hynde, along with the other Pretenders: guitarist James Walbourne, bassist Nick Wilkinson and long time drummer Martin Chambers introduced new songs from the album on Late Show With David Letterman and the Today Show week of release.

A CROSS THE UNIVERSE DROPS DECEMBER 9th ON ATLANTIC RECORDS
Extraordinary things always happen when unexpected. During the 18 months the Grammy-nominated French duo Justice spent touring following the release of their monumental debut LP, "extraordinary" didn't necessarily mean "amazing", or "great", (though it sometimes did) but "surreal", "weird", "horrendous", "fascinating", or "paranormal", etc. To cut a long story short, it means that without anyone to film you twenty-four/seven, no one will believe or get the essence of every moment you'd like to tell them about.
So as Justice were about to tour the USA for the second time, multi-award winning directors and intimate friends of the band, Romain Gavras ("Stress" director) and So-Me ("D.A.N.C.E.", "DVNO") taped every second of that 3 week tour that looks like it lasted 3 years. This documentary ain't about how cool Justice's live show is (the bonus CD is here for that), but is all about the extraordinary things that can happen when a bunch of frogs gets dropped in dreamy America.

Single released November 3rd 2008
There's a new single by Enter Shikari on the way. Its called 'We Can Breathe In Space, They Just Don't Want Us To Escape' and it will be on the shelves of record shops (as many as are left these days anyway), online retailers, and digital outlets in the UK from November 3rd. The single will be once again released on the band's own Ambush Reality label.
This version of 'We Can Breathe In Space' is a drastic re-working of a song originally demoed by the band way back in the mists of time (though popular amongst fans thanks to its brisk trade on file sharing / P2P sites, despite being missing from the live set for the past couple of years). The track was recorded in East London during the summer 2008 during a break in writing sessions for the follow up to the top 5 gold sales certified album 'Take To The Skies'. It is the first new recording to be released by Enter Shikari since June 2007.
'We Can Breathe In Space' was produced by Andy Gray who (aside from writing the the |

Cale Parks is a musician living in New York. He is the drummer in Aloha and White Williams. His sophomore album Sparklace (a Cale Parks anagram) will see release on Polyvinyl Record Co. on November 4th and is the first of two solo albums he will release this year. The second album will see release on the upstart Normative Music Company label.
A little over a year since the release of Parks' debut album Illuminated Manuscript comes Sparklace. There is a stark contrast between the two albums. Sparklace stands as a more immediate album than its predecessor focusing on songs with a pop structure whereas Parks' previous output was more ambient and minimalisitc. Recorded in his home, every sound is original. If there is a drum sample, it is from Parks' drum set. The vibraphone is sampled as well. To say Parks has found his voice, is to miss the point. Rather, the sound of Sparklace is singular and electronic with born digital sounds. There is no wasted space, not a sna |
