2008 has been something of a renaissance year for Paul Weller; his critically acclaimed No 1 album “22 Dreams” is on course to outsell “Stanley Road”, his most successful solo record to date, and his live show is delighting sell-out audiences the world over.
Weller’s new single is a ‘double A side’ featuring ALL I WANNA DO and PUSH IT ALONG plus a previously unreleased track BIG BRASS BUTTONS co-written by and featuring Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie. In addition to the 3-track CD there will be 2 limited edition 7” singles – one in the old-school pink Island Records bag featuring ALL I WANNA DO / PUSH IT ALONG, the other a different art-worked bag featuring an acoustic version of ALL I WANNA DO with the b-side featuring an acoustic cover version of Manfred Mann’s PRETTY FLAMINGO.

Atlanta-based songwriter Amy Ray —who you’ll likely recognize as the spirited, punk-weaned half of the Indigo Girls— released her third solo record, Didn’t It Feel Kinder, to some lofty praise last week. Recorded with the aid of Greg Griffith (The Butchies, Le Tigre), and featuring contributions from Kaia Wilson, Melissa York, Madonna-collaborator Tomi Martin, Brandi Carlile and the indie.country boys of Arizona, the album is Ray’s most engaging and dynamic work yet. U2's first concert video, Live At Red Rocks, will be released on DVD by Interscope/Island/UME on September 30, 2008 in the U.S., along with the accompanying live album, Under a Blood Red Sky.
Recorded at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado on 5th June 1983, Live at Red Rocks will be available for the first time on DVD, and will include 5 previously unreleased songs, a director's commentary, digitally re-graded pictures and a 5.1 mix.
The remastered Under a Blood Red Sky album was originally released in November 1983, and consists of live recordings from three shows on the band's War Tour through Europe and America.
A deluxe version featuring the Under a Blood Red Sky CD and the Live At Red Rocks DVD will be available, as well as single disc formats of the CD and DVD. An LP version of Under a Blood Red Sky pressed on 180gm virgin vinyl will also be released.

After almost four years the Levellers have recorded a new album set for release on August 11th through their own label ‘On The Fiddle’. London based Davinci’s band are releasing their debut EP ‘Surrealism’ on the 29/09/08. The Davinci’s are a multi-cultural group made up of Scottish born black soul/rock frontman, Ian Saint-John, with Danish pianist, Casper Christensen, and Chinese/Vietnamese British guitarist, Derek Yau.
The diverse background of each member brings a variety of influences into the Davinci’s melting pot. They take elements of Soul, Blues, Jazz, Rock, Classical and contemporary music, to create an epic sound that has a broad appeal. Their tracks are meaningful, beautifully structured, and memorable, Davinci’s Band really make an impact!

Funky soul singer/songwriter, Isaac Hayes, died on Sunday at age 65 in Memphis, TN.
Breaking into the mainstream with the Shaft soundtrack in 1971, which garnered him 2 Grammy Awards and an Academy Award, Hayes was a legendary force in music. While he had a difficult time recapturing the success of his early 70s material, he remained a prominent pop culture figure lending his smooth voice to South Park's Chef. The circumstances surrounding his leaving the show are...mysterious. In typical Scientology fashion.
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and creepy Scientologist, Hayes was apparently being treated for a number of medical conditions, and suffered a stroke a couple years ago. He died in his Memphis, Tennessee home next to a running treadmill. The official cause of death has not yet been released.

Ferret Music has just announced that they have signed Corona, California’s UNDERNEATH THE GUN!
Guitarist Trevor spoke on signing with Ferret Music,
“Ferret was the best choice for us because we felt that the label had enough resources to fulfill all of our needs as a band, while still being an indie label which would give us the opportunity to have a personal relationship with everyone we work with. We felt this balance was really important to the future and growth of our band.”
Alongside Trevor in UNDERNEATH THE GUN is Harrison (vocals), Isaac (drums), Kyle (bass), and Danny (guitar).
