Cover records have been done before, but hardly with the unique direction that By-The-Numbers, the newest music from indie-pop darlings, The Postmarks (out 11/11 on Unfiltered), takes. No mere collection of favorites or inspirations, the tracks on the record are united not only by their ability to meld to Tim Yehezkely's breathy vocals and Christopher Moll and Jonathan Wilkins' lush arrangements, but also by the fact that their titles consecutively climb from one to eleven – the twelfth song is cleverly left for the Pointer Sisters' "Pinball Number Count," made popular by Sesame Street. It's a calendar's worth of material that traverses everything from the Cure ("Six Different Ways") to the Jesus and Mary Chain ("Nine Million Rainy Days") to the Ramones ("7-11") to Antonio Carlos Jobim ("One Note Samba").
Despite the diversity of the originals, each rendition fully encapsulates The Postmarks' sound, a sound that has only continued to develop and deepen since their 2007 self-titl |

We're just a week away from Nickelback unleashing their latest album 'Dark Horse' an
11-track survey of everything the group has done so well to this point -- fist-pumping anthems, grinding rockers, soaring power ballads, grinning sexual innuendo, heart-wringing romanticism, choruses that stick in your ears after the first listen and hooks so big they practically boomerang through the songs.
For those of you who can't wait until next Monday, we've partnered with The Sun for an exclusive week-long stream of the whole album.

Stone Temple Pilots are currently being sued by their label home Atlantic Records over a record that hasn't even been made yet. Scott Weiland and drummer Eric Kretz had been rubbing labels the wrong way by publicly and privately saying they do not want to release under the Warner Music Group until some serious changes are made. They have not recorded an album together in 5 years and while they seem excited to get started, they have some demands. The label has responded through filing papers. Is STP being sued into silence? Absolutely not. The label is actually demanding they release more albums under the label.
I know I am always overjoyed to do business with people who file lawsuits against me. The band has released a statement regarding the lawsuit.
"Stone Temple Pilots were deeply disappointed to see that Atlantic filed a surprise lawsuit against two members of the legendary band ... when they were in the middle of what were believed to be cordial and positive discussions abo |

Toronto’s Lioness came together in the winter of early 2007, almost in secret, when Jeff Scheven and Ronnie Morris, the rhythm section behind the stomping disco pulses of controller.controller, hooked up with Vanessa Fischer of soul-punk quartet No Dynamics. Haunting off-the-radar locales, playing low-key after-hours sets in dark, sweaty clubs, Lioness generated a noteworthy undercurrent of buzz on the scene. On stage, Lioness exudes a pure, electric energy that has caught the attention bands like !!!, You Say Party! We Say Die! and K-OS – having supported each over the past year.
Their sans-guitar sound is like a head-on collision of old and new, as Fischer draws upon jazz, old soul and blues, roaring and moaning over layers of electronic squall and elastic rhythms like a witch in heat. It’s a clash of organic and synthetic, the sound of disco and house music filtered and distorted through the instrumental apparatus of live rock and roll. On stage, they are a synthesis of |

Grooves & sounds from the legendary Stubblefield and Starks
This is a unique and exclusive recording of two of the most important drummers in popular music. Clyde Stubblefield and John "Jab’o" Starks.
On their own or in tandem, Starks and Stubblefield were the principal drummers for the Godfather of Soul and Funk, Mr. James Brown. Fans and critics alike cite their collective era in Brown’s band as the pinnacle of Funk. Their combined drumming on the classic double-album "Sex Machine" is some of the most innovative, inspired and funky playing ever recorded.
Samples and looped audio of their original beats and breaks would go on to become the foundation of Hip-Hop. Their breaks gave birth to countless genres reaching deep into the realms of underground, experimental and popular music. It is also crucial to note that the use of their breaks inspired innovation within the techniques of DJ-ing and sample based production, thus making Starks and Stubblefield the most sampled a |

Habeas Corpus, the second album by Living Things, is a slingshot of modern Americana, arching from St. Louis through Chicago, New York City, London and Los Angeles to pierce the international vagabond outpost of Berlin; as seen through the eyes of four political junkies, high on the poet and the layman’s right to intellectual freedom. The themes they cover include life, love, money, religion and war in these turbulent times.
“In some ways I’ve looked at this whole record as a celebration of the uncertain times ahead,” says lead vocalist and lyricist Lillian Berlin. Anthemic, prophetic, bumping and grooving through Habeas Corpus, Living Things have taken their journey from St. Louis, the city where old-timers pick out the blues on their porches and giant signs proclaim “Guns Save Lives” and “Jesus Saves”, on to new cities and new horizons of the mind. Yet St. Louis and the contorting contradictions that this city wears is never far from their minds, it’s still the homestead to whi |
