Shaggy - Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection [CD] Oh dear. Just when you think that Shaggy couldn't get any more hilarious (probably in a bad way), he goes and gives his 'best of' collection (bear in mind that this is meant to summarise his fairly successful career and years of hard work) the shameful title of 'The Boombastic Collection'. His dignity and pride must have been through the floor when he agreed to this decision in the hope of reviving an arguably long expired career. That however, is the problem with novelty acts, like Shaggy (it's not even up for discussion); they can't really be revived. It's all about being in the right place at the right time. Can you imagine in 10 years time what it would be like if the Crazy Frog (who by the way wasn't crazy enough to warrant it being his name) decides that it's time to polish up his motorbike because a comeback is on the cards? Nobody would take to it, because he's been and gone, so will probably have to resort to panto or Strictly Big Brother 24 On Ice Factor. The world is over him. Unfortunately for Mr Lover Lover, I have strong suspicions that the same has happened here. Yes, this record DOES feature titans of modern music such as 'It Wasn't Me', 'Mr Boombastic' and the now semi-nostalgic 'Oh Carolina', but these are not commonly viewed as true classics and are not the kind of tracks that we will all be listening to in thirty years time. If it's a quick laugh and a brief journey back in time that your after, then go get this album. If however, like the rest of the world, you have moved on but still like terrible music - get Razorlight's new record. At least it's current. |
Re: Shaggy - Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection [CD] I can't believe you have recommended anyone buy a or even listen to a Razorlight CD. I would rather have my penis removed with a rusty breadknife hahahaha. |
Re: Shaggy - Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection [CD] yeh me too, or pehaps with a few swipes of a disgruntled brown bear's claw but that doesn't make for acceptable reading haha. |
