The first thing that caught my eye here was the fact that there’s a list almost as long a typical post office queue of credits. For a single it took me aback a bit, I load the CD into my disk drive with a great degree of excitement to see what such a large number of contributors can do to a track when all I was expecting was a nice quiet singer-songwriter type.

In total honesty this is one of the hardest reviews I’ve ever had to do. Look up to the end of the last paragraph, if you’ve made that assumption upon hearing the name Jason Mraz then you’re very much wrong, as was I. There’s a chilled out, jazzy feel to this song straight away. It’s the sort of thing you’d probably expect to hear in an upmarket restaurant where there was a “trendy” band playing as you tucked into your $200 meal. For their part, the long list of contributors for this single turn it into this, think trombone, trumpet, saxophone (a solo nonetheless) and keyboards, as well as group chanting and clapping along with the simple guitar, bass, drums mix.

The whole thing blends together really well and provides a nice little distraction from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Jason Mraz has been a name on many people’s lips for some time, unless this song is a marked improvement on anything he’s done before then it really isn’t hard to see why. In just over three minutes this slice of loveliness drifts by and leaves you feeling as though you’ve awoken from the sweetest dream. For all the jazzy elements it has this wondeful feel of a chill-out song, the types you’d find on an end of summer Ibiza compilation when all the summer’s house, trance and techno has worn out and you want to sit around to some nice chill-out music. All in all this is a damn good single, it’s hard to see why anybody would object to the unoffensive and unashamedly chilled vibes which eminate from the speakers when you play it. The only criticism, it may get old quickly, but forget that, it will bring a smile to your face regardless.
