LA based Christian screamo band Confide have finally arrived with their first full length album Shout the Truth, and boy do they get their message across!

Much like marmite; as soon as the first guitar riff blasts through your speakers, you’ll either love it or hate it. This band’s relentless onslaught of punk-hardcore beats and metal guitars rarely give you room to breath, apart from mid-album chill-out track ’00:00’ and acoustic track ‘This I Believe’ at the end of the album.

Unfortunately I struggled to find much to write about this album, purely because the whole CD is very samey and they’re not producing anything different from what many other bands have already done and are just sticking to a now-dated sound. Some tracks stand out such as ‘Can’t See the Forest for the Trees’, ‘If We Were a Sinking Ship’, and ‘Vultures Among the Dead’ which shows off just how powerful front-man Ross Kenyon’s scream is and the brutality of their beat-downs, but most of the tracks would be hard to tell apart.

As this is their first album, you have to cut this young band some slack; they’ve got many years ahead of them to move forward, but for this CD they’re very much stuck in the past. However if this is your type of thing then you’ll love this album, but if you’re looking for something new then it’s best to search elsewhere.
