Atlantic
Taken from the album ‘The Sound Of Madness’ released back in June 08, ‘Devour’ is the latest release to hit the rock scene from the five piece; Shinedown. A powerful and catchy tune, with vocals reminiscent of David Draiman (lead singer of Disturbed).
The intro has a nice military build up, a sort of prelude before the catchy chorus. The first line is “Devour, Devour, suffocate your own empire” and immediately your hooked. With some clever musicianship and stretched vocal harmonies this band are definitely a force to be reckoned with. If I could describe the song as a form of transport, it would be an extremely fast train.
It is easy to tell that this band will be very good live, and this single may be just what they need to make the big league. Signing to Atlantic was obviously a very good move, since then they have been un-loading album after album.
Definitely for fans of hard rock hero’s Disturbed and anyone in the mood for some meaty music.
