What can you say about Tony Christie?

Give up. Stop making music perhaps. Let go of the dream. Any of these will do.

According to the synopsis ‘Born To Cry’ was written by Jarvis Cocker and Richard Hawley (also formerly of Pulp) and is transformed into a soaring song of depth and beauty by the effortless vocal delivery of Tony Christie. Fair enough, they did fail to mention the other four people who helped to write it though, these are credited on his site.

So the song, well it is what you’d expect a big ballad with all the trimmings, strings, choirs the lot really. It’s hard for me to really get into it and give it praise because it is made for a different generation. But I will try to be fair. It’s well written, six heads are better than I guess, well produced well sung. On the other side of the coin it’s boring, goes nowhere and completely unoriginal. Considering he currently isn't on any label then he's done well.

‘Born To Cry’ has two tracks on it ‘Born To Cry’ (Radio Edit) and ‘Born To Cry’ (Album Version). Not too sure about either. Also, surely the album version should just be on the album not a b-side on the single, doesn’t that makes it the b-side version.

To summarize this would be better suited to my gran (if I had one), so instead it’s the bin for Tony. Recycling for the cardboard sleeve obviously.
