Sleep Station - Blood of Our Fathers

Sleep Station - Blood of Our Fathers

Eyeball Records

Sleep station has not achieved much of anything with their lackluster release “Blood of Our Fathers.”

The album features 11 tracks filled with confusing lyrics that seem to make an attempt to tie in current day political turmoil with “olden day” analogies.

Clearly Sleep Station’s sound falls far from the mainstream and for that reason may achieve what it set out to do, create a typical run of the mill folk rock album. Dreams of Our Fathers shines brightest on “Leads Back Home” and “I’ve Been Blind Enough to See.” In these tracks Sleep Station breaks from its standard acoustic guitar strums by adding a piano, electric guitar, and a strings ensemble.

Despite its lyrical and creative failings Sleep Station shines through with genuine feeling in its music. Perhaps my haste to criticize the album comes from my inexperience in the folk genre. Dreams of Our Fathers can be downloaded for free HERE.
