The Raid - Oh Lillee [Single]

The Raid - Oh Lillee [Single]

Shifty Disco

The Raid must have been desperate to release a single in order to release 'Oh Lillee'. It's an okay track, but it could be so much better and far more innovative than it is.

To start with the negatives, 'Oh Lillee' is annoyingly Indie, and what I mean by this is that some Indie tracks are decent, but this sounds like most of the mediocre ones. There is also no new, unique elements of 'Oh Lillee' that make The Raid stand out as an individual band, but just a mix of what might as well be samples from bands like The Strokes and The White Stripes. 'Oh Lillee' is also rather repetitive - once you've heard the first verse and chorus you've pretty much heard it all.

However, it isn't all that bad, there are features of 'Oh Lillee' which are quite impressive. For example, the vocals are performed really well, and I feel Adam Robinson's voice suits the track incredibly well. There are also some quite catchy guitar licks, which make 'Oh Lillee' a song I can at least remember. 'Oh Lillee' is also quite upbeat and feel-good, which is typical of The Raid. This is quite good as bands tend to be going down the depressing root at the moment, something I think the industry should maybe try and get away from.

'Oh Lillee' is a track worth listening to, but if you have something else to listen to instead or if you're just to busy then you won't be missing out on too much.
