Self Released
First impressions are everything, a band name should be something witty and cool. Alan however leave a lot to the imagination on coming up with a band name. Putting the name aside was easy to accomplish once track one of the two track EP started playing. 'There She Goes' is a very catchy little number, with some brilliant Oasis esque drumming and Stone Roses vocals. The track is well written and has some nice production effects. The chorus vocals have a cool delay effect that seems to slap back and please the ears.
This record has a summertime vibe to it, with a good pace and a happy, cheery outcome. You can hear a very heavy influence of the hippy, laid back approach to song writing all over this single. Track two 'Shine', is blatantly a Stone Roses influenced track. Double layered vocals, two or three guitar licks playing, and a great reverberated sound to the drums. The lyrics "I'll never forget you" are harmonized and layered throughout the track which sound great. Both tracks seem to be about women. An old technique to song writing with a high success rate. Alan have managed to put together a great little EP here. With some more work and more material they may do well for themselves.
In all honesty I did not expect much at all from this record due to the band name. I guess this is an example of the old cliché. "Never judge a book by it's cover!"
