London band Milk Plus, comprised of rockers Butch La Rea and Robbie Pinna, let loose their debut three track EP
Little Victories on the world via digital release in December. The three track hidden gem is a mixture of screeching guitar riffs, driving beats and howling punk vocals.
Track numero uno ‘Monsters in Your Stereo’ is a fast paced rager of a track that is begging to be played live. The track is initially quite solid, but there are moments when I wish the vocals on the track were slightly subtler so as to let the music behind take a more central role, as it most definitely has the chops to do so. Middle track ‘Fear of Numbers’ is a retro punk tune mixing squealing guitar with full-throttle dominant lyrics. Milk Plus finish up with track ‘I Don’t Know What I’m Doing’, which is a very together, well produced and laboured tune, and is easily the most memorable song from the EP thanks to the paced beat and more commercial sound.
Impressively, Milk Plus do their best work live, and can be seen all over London promoting and perfecting their sound. For a debut EP,
Little Victories is a solid effort, with all the basics laid down with evident expertise, laying the groundwork for their sound to be built on. Check them out via their Myspace.
Sharpen up and get ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence brought to you by Milk Plus.
