After over a year of threatening to explode out of their local scene and into the much broader horizons of worldwide music via numerous successful tours (Japan, Europe etc), each packed with every single show more energetic than the last and a debut album that most other bands can only dream of equalling, Attack! Attack!’s promises are finally beginning to fulfil themselves.
Possibly the most hyped of and indeed, successful of all of Wales’ many emerging bands in 2008, it is great to see the Attack! Attack! pulling the crowds that they deserve and to then see those crowds leaving the venues with an ear-to-ear grin belting out those infectious choruses that have got the band to where they are today.
So then, can they keep it up? No pressure boys.
‘You And Me’ is lifted from the self titled debut album and follows previous singles ‘This Is A Test’ and ‘Too Bad Son’. It shares the same appeal of these other releases yet it abstains from becoming monotonous and a parody of them – something fantastically uncommon these days with bands of this genre, and perhaps a factor in their phenomenal success. The punchy verse with its snaking guitar lines and staccato stabs perfectly sets the scene for yet another now trademark raise-the-roof Attack! Attack! chorus. The appeal of this band is ever growing, as every single somehow seems to better the last, ensuring that fans are kept on their toes and their sound fresh.
Here is a band that thoroughly deserves all that they achieve, but whether you wish them well or not, you had better get used to them because this surely won’t be last that you will hear of them.
A fantastic three minute short sharp injection of power-pop that can be listened to over and over.
