The Hundred In The Hands have risen from the ashes of The Boggs and feature former Boggs' Jason Friedman and Eleanore Everdell. Though '
Dressed In Dresden' was recorded before The Boggs disbanded, it's clear what the intent was as they have produced very much a pop tune that is thickly layered with chopping beats, and a distinctly indie-flavoured jaggy guitar all sumptuously mixed with Eleanore's alluring vocal purring "
hold me down, and hollow out my heart". Now I can only dream that there's a cow bell lurking in this track but no doubt it's just beating sticks. A man can dream can't he! '
Dressed In Dresden' is a dance floor thump designed to get you on your feet and it works for me.
Flipside '
Undressed In Dresden' is the more laid back of the two with Jacgues Renault mixing a different slant on '
Dressed In Dresden' by adding a horn section, some funky little bongo beats and swirling Eleanore's vocal to a more dreamy effect at times. This track keeps the driving rhythm but it's almost as if the tempo has shifted and the guitars have vanished from sight which helps to create a more atmospheric, sombre mood. Unfortunately the lyrics seemingly fail to gel as well as in the more upbeat '
Dressed In Dresden' the further the track develops.
I think we'll be hearing a little bit more of this on the dance floor's of the world over the coming months and I gleefully anticipate more from The Hundred In The Hands.
