Phatboy - Live at The Kasbah, Coventry 12.12.08 The greatest thing about the atmosphere tonight is that everyone’s out for a good time at the so-called “End of Term gig”. The crowd is bursting with energy and desperate to end the term in style, this means getting drunk and enjoying some really great bands. Four Year Strong influenced, Phatboy competently delivered this with their upbeat, heavy brand of pop punk. This energetic quintet are constantly out to bring a fantastic stage show, and as always, the boys are jumping around and generally having a good time doing what they love. Despite a poor, dull introduction from indie band The 27 Club, Kyoto Drive save the night by throwing out an amazingly tight screamo performance ready for Phatboy to ably follow. There are very few genuinely talented screamo bands, and so it was great news when Kyoto Drive stepped onstage and performed their brief 35-minute set with ease. Finally seeing Phatboy headline in their hometown and rip into opening song “Eighteen” and self-titled “Phatboy” really showed how this band never fail to put on a lively and exciting performance. Their playful, down to earth approach to crowd interaction goes down so well here and presents both entertainment and amusement within their home crowd. There’s definitely a future for these boys, with their light-hearted personalities, stimulating stage-shows and fantastically catchy, upbeat sound and it’s obvious that these are definitely not a band to miss out on. Phatboy are currently touring the Midlands so keep your eyes peeled on their Myspace for details on upcoming gigs near you. http://www.myspace.com/phatboyuk |
Re: Phatboy - Live at The Kasbah, Coventry 12.12.08 ha, you fucking cunt. i'm in the 27 club. we had what... 100 people watching us this night - for a band who had only played 2 gigs at this point - not too shabby (considering it was a friday night in there which is essentially a cheese night). then the room emptied when the following acts came on. this reviewer is chatting absolute shit. i think the fact that our band stuck around for the following acts made the numbers up to around 10 people watching. and i'm not suprised because it was dreadfully boring. clearly the reviewer is a mate of the band that this review is about cos it's bollocks! they may have been tight musically but that's about it... how many more bands can be made that sing with whiny voices, are 'energetic' and write lyrics about girlfriends at school and skateboards? reviewer is a prick! also, phatboy members of the band where fuckin vests on stage - say it all! |
Congrats Jessy! Quote:
:thebird: Congratulations Jessy on pissing off someone from a band enough to make them sign up just to slag you off. You are now a member of the club :D |
Re: Phatboy - Live at The Kasbah, Coventry 12.12.08 no, not really... we headlined on our very first gig. we've actually played last a few times ahead of more established bands. and how can i take that criticism you cock? it's hardly constructive or anything... just basically saying we're shit. you're probaby a silly emo prick anyway. it's a well known fact that emos know fuck all about music... to busy straightening their fringes and cutting themselves cos their dad is ashamed of them. i guarantee that phatboy and kyoto will not go anywhere in music... cos they're not very good. just like there mate who writes their reviews. absolute idiot! |
Re: Phatboy - Live at The Kasbah, Coventry 12.12.08 I really still can't believe you are crying over this "Despite a poor, dull introduction from indie band The 27 Club". That is the only mention about your band in this review. God help you if you were ever to get your own live review or EP review. Seriously you need to lighten up if you want anything to happen for you and your band. As much as there will be people that love you there will be people that hate you in equal measure. If you can't handle that give up now. |
Re: Phatboy - Live at The Kasbah, Coventry 12.12.08 cos you have no right to say it. we aren't a dull band, and we were the best band of the night... think it was reflected by the amount of people that watched us and stuck around til the end of the set - rather than the amount of people that left when the other bands were on! and that is not necessarily true... we'll have more people love us than hate. as long as fuckin idiots like yourself dont write the review, i'll be happy! |
Re: Phatboy - Live at The Kasbah, Coventry 12.12.08 Have no right to say it?? What are you on about?!?! Have you not heard of the term 'freedom of speech'? Again let me re-iterate. There was one small line mention about your band in this review, and you didn't float our reviewers boat but who cares, cause they weren't there to see you anyway. No press is bad press man so you should in fact be thanking us for the mention. Get off your high horse and take a step to the side and look at this and you will realize how ridiculous you look. Without even realizing it you are alienating your band from people as no one wants to go and see a band that can't handle criticism. All said and done we are talking about a small gig, in a small club that doesn't matter for shit. Yawn. I'm bored of this now. Like I said before. God help you if you ever release an EP or album and get a bad review!! |
Re: Phatboy - Live at The Kasbah, Coventry 12.12.08 how should we thank you for that? if anyone was looking us up to maybe see what we're like and they have this saying it's dull it aint gonna really make people wanna see or book us. also giving false reviews about the two other bands who were terribly boring. not really, the kasbah is fairly big and the promoter gives good opportunites to local bands to open up for bigger bands who play there such as supergrass and the doves. he thought we sounded good and had a good turn out for us. i'm sure this horseshit review aint doing us any favours! i think emo's should be banned from writing reviews on music and stick to skating down the park with 13 year old girls! |
Re: Phatboy - Live at The Kasbah, Coventry 12.12.08 Yawn. Your like a one trick pony or a broken record. You keep saying the same thing. Boring boring boring boring. What on earth does emo have to do with any of this? The poor emo kids get blamed for everything. It's nothing to do with them and somehow you are blaming them. Rock the Kasbah. Oh that's right. You didn't. |
Re: Phatboy - Live at The Kasbah, Coventry 12.12.08 you are an absolute penis! |
