On the night of November 13th, mighty rock gods
Alter Bridge brought their sonic storm to the extremely rainy Portsmouth. The opening band were local classic rockers
Tequila Rockin' Bird who I must say, [for an opening act] played a blinding set. With soaring vocals and ear storming guitar solos myself and the rest of the crowd seemed to approve.
The second support act was Scottish rockers
Logan. Logan was highly appreciated by the crowd, especially after front man
Kenny's impression of
Justin Hawkins.
The time had finally come. The reason the Guildhall was packed to capacity. The mighty
Alter Bridge took to the stage to rapturous applause. From the first ear-pounding riff of '
Come to life' to the last ripping solo of '
Rise Today', the entire crowd were passionately singing and moshing their heads along.
The highlight of the night for me was their rarely performed B-side '
New Way to Live'. From the first bass note the crowd erupted into a ear deafening roar. As this amazing night drew to an end, the
Alter Bridge boys interacted with the crowd in a way I've never before experienced. Handing out picks, drumsticks and set lists. One of which I was lucky enough to get.
Alter bridge played:
[Soundcheck]

Coming home

Metalingus
Open your eyes
[Encores]
Broken wings
Mud bone
Rise today
If you are fan of AC/DC, Led Zepplin and other such bands then I suggest you check out
Alter Bridge at your earliest experience. Their music is some surreal infusion of both the aforementioned bands, and, with two albums out, and a 3rd currently in the works things are looking great for these American arena fillers.
