This was the long-awaited sequel to 'All the Right Reasons' and it was even more highly anticipated when Grammy-award winning producer Robert Lange (AC/DC, Bryan Adams, Shania Twain, Def Leppard) climbed onboard to work his magic. And in my opinion, it worked. It may not be Back to Black, but it's certainly back to Nickelback; hard-working, gut-clenching rock with intimate lyrics. I've read many reviews about this album, and they are all mixed. Some rated it a half out of five, whilst others give it four and a half or even five, and I'm with them - mine's nearer the 5.

Their single, 'Gotta Be Somebody', is one I'm sure you've heard whether you wanted to or not as it has been continuously been blasted through the radio airwaves for the last month or so. I always have this feeling about songs on a band's album, you always know the 'single song' and this is it. And you can tell the others, 'If Today Was Your Last Day' and 'I'd Come For You', good songs in their own right too. They are the classic love songs, if you understand me. They're the 'How You Remind Me' and 'Photograph' of this album and will clearly be the ones which attract peoples' attention and inevitably direct them to buy their record, thus digging deeper into their other songs.

Nobody wants to be the last one there / and everyone wants to feel like someone cares / someone to love with my life in their hands / there's gotta be somebody for me
Upon digging deeper into Dark Horse you will realise the true potential of this album, it's already gained Platinum after only 3 weeks upon release, with songs like 'Something in Your Mouth', 'Burn it to the Ground' and 'Shakin Hands'. This is where the more intimate lyrics come in and if you've ever listened to 'Animals' off their last record, you'll know what I mean.

You naughty thing, you're ripping up the dancefloor honey / you naughty woman, you shake your ass around for everyone / your such a mover, i love the way you dance with anybody / the way you swing, and tease them all by sucking on your thumb / you're so much cooler when you never pull it out / cause you look so much cuter with something in your mouth
I've got to admit, I loved Nickelback's last album, All the Right Reasons, knew every song, all the lyrics when it was released before about a year later when 'Rockstar' was released and suddenly everyone loved that album. So right now, I'm gonna take my chance and take this time to say I love this album, Dark Horse, and I certainly think Nickelback have come back with another great record to blow everyone away and I'd recommend this album to everyone. So if you haven't heard it, go out and buy it because you won't be disappointed!
