Even after listening to the ‘Intro’ of The Method To My Medium’s The Sincerities EP a couple of times, I still am not sure what’s going on. And yet, it’s probably the best minute and 6 seconds on the EP.

I’m all for people living their musical dream, especially if they have some obvious musical talent – but I’ve completely forgotten what it is that’s supposed to set these bands apart from each other anymore. With the same emo sounding lyrics, from the same whiny, typical American guy, standard guitar riffs, hollow drumming, and bass from an easily forgettable source.

Despite having never heard much from The Method To My Medium before, I feel like I know the words to their tracks already. ‘Melodies and Metaphors’ and ‘Finding Redemption’ are perfect examples of the high school effort encompassed in the EP.

‘Move Real Slow’ with lyrics “One night stands are all that she’s known for so long/Maybe I, maybe I should run away?” – the old classic topic, I like a skanky girl, oh what to do? I especially like when they decide that one version of each clone track isn’t already enough, so they put Version II of three songs on the ass end of the EP, just to really drive home the fact that they really aren’t very creative.

Now, I’m not saying these guys can’t play a good instrument – but the sound that they are producing together is so generic, it almost makes me want to reach for some Rhianna just for something, anything to break the monotony. Obviously, I couldn’t wait for this EP to be over, but I don’t doubt that there are some people out there who have been living under a rock for the last 5 years and will find this EP altogether groundbreaking.
