The Xcerts - Crisis In The Slow Lane [Single]
 

Hailing from Glasgow and sounding the way they do you get the feeling that The Xcerts are going to have countless comparisons to Biffy Clyro and to be honest I'm not going dissuade from that particular argument as there really is something incredibly Biff-esque about them.

• Emotional, Power songs = Check

• Slight Scottish/Yank drawl = Check

• Destined to soundtrack T in The Park's highlight show = Probably a Check!

The Xcerts don't make an entirely original racket but that's not to say they are heavily reliant on the sounds of others. 'Crisis In The Slow Lane' is an incredibly catchy track that mixes the slow/fast/slow combination's with expertise and despite it's lack of originality The Xcerts have been able to pull off the trick of being exceptionally good at their sound despite endless comparisons to others.

The Xcerts sounding similar to Biffy Clyro is surely a comparison that is not only just, but surely also welcome? The Xcerts are for fans of Biffy Clyro and if you are lucky enough to see/hear The Xcerts you will find minimal (if any) disappointment.

Oh I dunno, it's not like I hate it or anything it's a fairly good track and they do it well but there is that inevitability that they sound like certain other bands - unfortunate but that's the way it is.

yeh, i really tried to stress that it's not because of the accent because i'd hate such a shallow comparaison. you're right, it is great, but so are many other bands like them.

Actually there are two.

Experimental, inventive but bordering on difficult Biffy, and big anthemic stadium rock Biffy.
