Daath - The Concealers [Album]

In the vein of acts such as Devildriver and Dying Fetus Daath return with their third album release and as expected with this style it’s a white knuckle ride of solos, blast beats and growling (which is a good thing!).

The resurgence of thrash seems to have begun in the past three or four years as the new wave of American heavy metal led by bands such as Lamb Of God kicked in, gone were the growling verses followed by singalong choruses, the rawness that bands such as Metallica had lost by being overproduced was slowly creeping back in for which Daath took advantage of.

Given that the band’s name is influenced by that Madonna/LA celeb trend (at least to the public majority) of Kabbalah you have no need to worry about it creeping into the songs too much aside from the track named ‘Day Of Endless Night with the lyrics a mix of destruction, self corruption and desolation which is par for the course.

This is the first album with their new singer Sean Z and the first album to have more of a guitar influence than previous albums due to Mike Kameron’s departure which makes it more in the genre of speed and thrash metal than the industrial influence of previous work, the production by Jason Suecof shows this given his previous work with the aforementioned Devildriver.

The album on the whole is a contender for fans of this style to get into, if you’re not a fan by now chances are this isn’t going to convert you to the Daath religion but if you’re willing to strap yourself in for the ride you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
