Their name might not have imparted the same sort of imagery or feeling I was expecting, but this is certainly a good effort from The Fevers with their latest single 'Alright'. Taking away my bias to my non-affinity with indie rock from the 00s, this track is rather good. Their MySpace proclaims them not to be The Cure, and fortunately for them, that was my initial thought. There is definitely something Blurry/Stone Rosey about their sound; the melodic tune on this track is catchy and "hand tapping" worthy and this is exemplified further with the quality Prince-esque guitar vocal in the middle, leading to the final chorus and ad libs. For the vocals themselves, lead singer Alex does a good job with simple lyrics and nothing too abstract; a la Smiths, which may have saved them from copycat comments and reviews.

With Rock not on the top of my list for specialist categories for Mastermind, I had to listen to this track a few times and it grew on me more and more with every repeat. There is something about the tune that makes a home in your head for a few minutes. The guitarist and drummer should be applauded (as they are overlooked in bands quite often) for their brilliant efforts on this track; they kept in time and it's clear that they love what they're doing, which is important in music today. Simple strumming on your Fender and drumming on your Yamaha kit may cut it for the younger generation, but tracks like this have the potential to be very big and make a rock fan out of me yet.
