Seether – Breakdown [Single]
 

Hearing Seether are named after the Veruca Salt song I was hoping for a slice of joyously buoyant indie-pop-perfection. Or, if not [given the anger and hatred encapsulated in the name], maybe some doom-laden gothic music laced with swirling melodies and self-loathing.

Seether offer neither.

Instead it is a return to formulaic mid-90s post-grunge. It is a well-worn path that 'Breakdown' brings absolutely nothing new to. If important questions to you include “why can’t I have more arena-friendly grunge on my hard drive?” or “who would be the ideal support band for Nickelback’s next tour?” then ‘Breakdown’ by Seether is for you. If those questions are irrelevant so is this retrograde and banal music.

Sadly, not.

Yeah that sounds like a challenge, no problem. It will have to wait until I have moved into the new place, as my CD's are currently in storage whilst I go to war with our new land lady.

Hmmm, this is gonna be a toughy - how to whittle it down to one disc.
