Frankmusik, real name Vincent Frank, has been causing a stir in the underground pop/electro scene for a while now, with Radio 1 airplay and a video currently circulating the music channels. So it’s understandable that there was an air of excited anticipation flowing through the sold out crowd at Dingwall’s in Camden for his single release launch party.

Main support was provided by Starsmith, whose bassy, pulsating covers of songs such as the Kings of Leon’s ‘Sex on Fire’ gradually warmed the audience up and got their heads nodding. However we all knew who we’d come for tonight…

The build up to Frankmusik’s set was intense, with flashing light displays and sonic mayhem announcing his arrival as he took to the stage to roars of delight from the audience. Having just arrived back that morning from his Live and Lost Tour, it was apparent he was just excited as us to be there celebrating the launch of his debut single ‘Better Off as Two’. Vincent didn’t waste any time inflicting the full power of his stunning falsetto voice and grooving bass lines upon the audience, powering through a 35 minute set with massive pop sing-a-longs such as ‘Gotta Boyfriend’, ‘Save My Tears’ and of course ‘3 Little Words’. He rounded off the show with the single ‘Better Off as Two’, obviously an audience favourite as the crowd bounced to the rhythm of this powerful song. For his encore he provided us with a real treat; something that only those die-hard fans who have been with him since the beginning would recognise, a stunning remix of ‘3 Little Words’ that put the entire audience in a trance and ended the show perfectly.

It is apparent from tonight that Frankmusik is something special, and there’s a lot more to this artist than meets the eye. I’m looking forward to his next move, because I think this kid’s going to be around for a while.
