Dizzee Rascal Feat. Armand Van Helden - Bonkers [Single] Get your fill of this track now because come July you'll be wishing for just one day of freedom from the grime-house combination (not grimey-house as in 'How Clean Is Your House' with that condescending bat and the dirty little one that has no objections to sticking her fingers into crusty dog shit, I mean the good kind of grime) courtesy of the ever improving Dizzee Rascal and house legend Armand Van Helden. A massive step away from all of his previous work (including the Calvin Harris collaboration that destroyed the charts), Dizzee is proving to the world that he’s not ‘just a rapper’ or indeed a pop star, as he once again pushes the boat out with his latest release and challenges the boundaries of hip-hop. Of course however, the combo of hip-hop and dance has been done as number of times in the past, but very rarely as well and as unique as this track. Dizzee’s instantly recognisable voice and trademark delivery of lyrics combined with the honed skills of producer Van Helden make for a poppy, yet surprisingly dance-orientated release that despite perhaps being a bit full on for daytime radio, will no doubt prove to be an unbelievable success as bloggers the world over and music fans are already busy doing the PR work for this track and selling it to themselves! ‘Bonkers’ will surely be the sound of the summer for thousands and I predict that his show at the already infamous ‘Ibiza Rocks’ in August will see this track at its best. Let’s not focus on Dizzee too much though, as in my opinion although the success of the track will be down to Dizzee and his pop-appeal, the core genius of the track should be credited to Armand; for he has once again produced a radio friendly track that still somehow manages to please even the hungriest of hard house fans. The constant rhythm, raw fuzzy tones, throbbing lead and intricate French-house inspired hooks needed just the tiniest extra ingredient to make the track a smash, but Dizzee came along and pushed it over the edge upon amply fulfilling it’s needs and therefore taking it one step further. A great, light hearted summery vibe that will go down a storm at both the festivals and in the clubs. Welcome back, hip-hop has missed you. |
Re: Dizzee Rascal Feat. Armand Van Helden - Bonkers [Single] I can't beleive how long that dizzee/Calvin harris track was number for, Mental. You seen dizzee live? He is playing with prodigy this week! |
Re: Dizzee Rascal Feat. Armand Van Helden - Bonkers [Single] I need to hear this track. My friend keeps playing it and I've yet to hear it. |
Re: Dizzee Rascal Feat. Armand Van Helden - Bonkers [Single] "for he has once again produced a radio friendly track that still somehow manages to please even the hungriest of hard house fans." i doubt that very much. havent listened to the track, but the combination of these two sell outs leaves me think i will leave it especially for the pop music lovers that love pop music. and thats that. |
Re: Dizzee Rascal Feat. Armand Van Helden - Bonkers [Single] Is there any link to this track? It aint on Myspace....... |

and robinrenwick, if people love the music for the music itself rather than the bundle of image in credability points that comes with it then i can't see how anyone can honestly say that this isn't a great track that will work well in clubs. |
Re: Dizzee Rascal Feat. Armand Van Helden - Bonkers [Single] "i can't see how anyone can honestly say that this isn't a great track that will work well in clubs." what clubs are you going to??? the production on the music is good. fair enough. but the dizzie part is pretty poor, especially when he tries his hand at singing. give me a break please. this piece of music was undoubtedly set up by the record labels knowing that the single would be a hit just due to the two names being involved. it did not come from a musical place, it came attached to a heavy, financial heart. this kind of music does the whole music industry an injustice......in my opinion. but if you want play the track away on your ipod, at your parties, or in your "clubs". i dont mind......honestly |
Re: Dizzee Rascal Feat. Armand Van Helden - Bonkers [Single] clearly not 'cool' enough clubs. without tracks like this there would'nt be a thriving music industry so it's good that they come along and support it by selling well and nudge new genres (however watered down and subtle they may be) upon the listening public therefore broadening the horizons and range of music on offer for the future. |
Re: Dizzee Rascal Feat. Armand Van Helden - Bonkers [Single] Considering Dizzee just toured with Prodigy, could it not be that he actually enjoys dance music? And was maybe inspired? |
