'Dream Satellite' begins like the off-cut of some stuffed piggy Smiths' song with it's chiming guitars but where The Smiths were interrupted with Morrissey's morose baritone (not a complaint I'm a fan honest) 'Dream Satellite' has the rather different velvety tones of Mr Eoghan Colgan who seems to have developed the vocal equivalent of a rather tasty angel delight pudding possible butterscotch flavour! And with this voice 'Dream Satellite' is propelled into the more streamlined and undeniably populist musical lineage of say a Snow Patrol albeit without the financial backing that would truly allow this song to take off and reach stratospheric satellite heights - the potential is there though you can hear it in the harmonies at around 2:15 mins and the effortless dispatching of the rather catchy chorus.
Without doubt Eoghan Colgan is a talented individual and it's quite a surprise that it's taken him this long to start getting music out into this big, bad planet but his is a storied journey and will only seek to benefit his music which if you pay enough attention you'll soon be hearing, especially if you go and get hold of 'Dream Satellite'. The Smiths but catchier is by the way what I'm telling you that it sounds like so pay attention to this!
*In an additional note thingy, the room in the video looks really familiar to me but I can't quite remember why - if anyone knows the studio it was recorded in pray do tell as it will bug me!
