Fake Problems - It’s great to be alive [Album] The latest album by much hyped band Fake Problems really gets going and starts to connect with me by track two, titled ‘The Dream Team’. This is an epic track complete with "woah woah" backing vocals, a breakdown, guitar solo and plenty of plinky-plonking on the piano. It leaves you breathless and awe inspired by the energy captured on this record. "The Dream Tream" makes you long to see Fake Problems in a live environment if this is the standard that they have produced on record. The lyrics of the album ‘It’s great to be alive’ are an interesting exploration of the battle for the soul of an individual. Which path a person chooses to take is discussed and the singer vocally articulates the pain behind the choices we as humans have to make. The sound produced by Fake Problems can best be described as a cross between the vocal stylings of "The Boss" [Bruce Springsteen] coupled with the energy and pure craziness of Gogol Bordello. Track six, ‘Diamond Rings’ is a stand out track, with a blues vibe which also verges into jaunty show tune territory. The lyrics of the track are dark and haunting and it truly showcases their musical ability with extended instrumental breakdowns surrounding the verses. Lead vocalist Chris Farren yelps the unforgettable lyric, Quote:
All in all this is a very accomplished album which builds well on Fake Problems previous efforts. Fake Problems are due to tour in the UK in early Autumn with the equally engaging song-smith Frank Turner. In my personal opinion this will be one gig not to miss, so check the tour out if it comes anywhere near you. |
