You can easily make a lazy comparison between Side By Side and Sigur Ros. They both feature the same haunting instrumentalization and sparse vocals are evident in both bands albums. This type of music is not my cup of tea at all, so if I’m honest trying to write an impartial review based on the record has been a bit of a struggle for me.

The nature of "Morning" is sombre; the lyrics chronicle a year in the life of the band and the people, things and experiences surrounding them. In the words of Side by Side [on the album sleeve]:

“a compilation of songs and is a documentation of it all”
The band members in Side by Side have obviously been through the emotional mill in the year preceding this record. They have experienced love, lost that love and experienced death, to name but a few of their personal traumas.

Even though "Morning" is not to my specific personal musical taste I would urge you to check it out as the record is a testament to the sheer rawness and reality of human emotion that has been effectively reproduced sonically on a record. Also the fact that this album ever got made shows the importance and sustaining nature that the production of music has in peoples lives.
