Altsounds - Team Waterpolo - Room 44 [Single]

Team Waterpolo have created a nice little track with "Room 44", as long as you only listen to it once.

"Room 44" has a catchy hook, nice vocals and an interesting use of electro. It’s radio friendly with a bright and cheery sound but on the whole it’s a very predicable track that can be easily replaced. Unfortunately there wasn’t a whole lot more to say about the new single so I checked out their various facespaces’s and was shocked to see they had much stronger songs available.

For example “Song for Mel” is fun, catchy and much more interesting than "Room 44". Unfortunately, I also saw their video for "Room 44" and I sadly now despise the song. Picture this:

It is so horribly clichéd and unimaginative I found it to be bordering on offensive. However, with the right publicity it’s more than likely they will be the proud owners of another successful summer song, and considering their increasing fan base they may well have reasonable longevity as all of the other songs available show good promise.

"Room 44" is an easy- to-listen-to bop along song with very good production and a polished sound. It has a strong beginning and end but the rest of the 3 minutes is unfortunately just that; 3 minutes you don’t even notice. All in all, a dull disappointment.

Team Waterpolo are one of the many bands who have been signed after quick success on Myspace and they will have to fight and develop quickly to last - Myspace may well have got them where they are today, but it may also have taken away their tomorrow.
