Peaches - I Feel Cream [Album]

After four mainstream albums is Peaches showing us a vulnerable side? Although, the vocals on “I feel Cream” range from being aggressive to timid, the driving beats behind all the songs give the impression that Peaches will turn around and smack you in the face for merely suggesting vulnerability.

“I Feel Cream” is an emotive album which brings out your primal instincts - I felt like I was being groomed - charged up with sexual frustration and anger - like a crazed monkey in a cage. Perfect to listen to before a night out - turn up the bass and let your instincts take over. A definite highlight of the album is newly released “Talk To Me” - dirty beats and strong vocals, with underlying aggression this track was made for the dance floor.

Following the stomp romp of “Talk To Me” is the gentle electro tune “Lose You” which, for the first time, shows a delicate side to Peaches. This is perfect sex music, gentle but impulsive. Songs to listen out for include; “Billionaire” featuring Shunda K from Yo! Majesty - imagine strutting down a dangerous street, flaunting yourself and snarling at passers-by.

Title track “I Feel Cream” has soft vocals, with a possible sample of Chemical Brothers in there, flawlessly merging from Peaches’ trademark rap to exposed, tender singing. “Mud” marches you to a forgotten war, in the calm before the storm the army paces to her every word. I have never heard Peaches sound so sexy.

Peaches is like a rebel spaceship charging to the next stage, the next level, the next album without stopping for direction. Although the tracks on “I Feel Cream” are very similar to each other - feeding from the same energy - they all pull at different emotions offering something fresh at each listen, giving the album longevity.

Peaches is the overtly sexual underbelly of pop and “I Feel Cream” is progressive but without losing all the elements that make Peaches such a great artist. With the electro scene constantly expanding, “I Feel Cream” is ‘a diamond in the muff.’

I heard this on iTunes and just had to find out more!
It's pretty good, Talk to Me would be my favourite.
