The Answer - Tonight [single] There’s a fine line between sad 80’s throwback band that wishes time would reverse so the hair metal hay-day could be relived, and an ‘incendiary’ act that seems to transcend all boundaries of generation bias. Thankfully, Northern Ireland’s own The Answer are on the right side of the reminiscent 80’s bands saturating the airwaves these days on rock radio, and their second and latest single Tonight proves that The Answer definitely deserved their place opening for giants of rock and/or roll AC/DC on their string of European dates earlier this year. As far as a single goes, Tonight is more value for your buck than the typical 1 track, including an alternative acoustic version of ‘Tonight’ plus an extra live electric version of track ‘Dead of the Night’. Both versions of ‘Tonight’ are tasteful and tight with just the right amount of screeching vocals and dirty guitar licks. ‘Dead of the Night’ rips into a tough yet likeable guitar riff straight from the count in, which is then mingled with a hastened beat and Cormac Neeson’s perfectly strangled vocals “In the cool red light, in the dead of the night…” Standard versions of both 'Tonight' and 'Dead of the Night' can be heard on The Answer’s latest studio release Everyday Demons, which was released in both the UK and the US during March, and has proven a worthwhile effort for the 4 Irish boys, debuting at #25 on the UK albums chart. So, where can we look for a band that has all the aspects of a successful 80’s rock act but manages to stay fresh and interesting with catchy hooks and memorable lyrics? Here’s The Answer.
