As you may have gathered from reading my choice of bands that I’ve reviewed so far for this site, I’m a guy that loves his rock and metal!

So when I received this album and the first words I read on the back were ‘Mosh and Roll’ the grin on my face was one of "this is going to be pure, raw rock and roll in the style of AC/DC, but German".

The Bulletmonks have only been around for about a year but as soon as the opening track "No Gain Just Pain" kicks in on this album, with it’s homage to the vocal/riff opening of Led Zeppelin’s Black Dog, you feel they’ve been around for longer than that!

They have been compared to the Zep, AC/DC, even the band Airbourne (which really is just AC/DC for the millennium) and with good reason: the solos are pure and recall Angus Young during the Highway to Hell and Back In Black era and with a guy called ‘Dangerous’ Dan doing them it’s pretty much a given!

There’s also a guest appearance from Andy Powell from the 70’s band Wishbone Ash on "Under The Black Sun", also returning the favour on the influence front and is probably the closest you get to ‘prog’ on the album.

Don’t expect the lyrics that you’d find on a Dream Theater album though, the lyric content falls into three categories: women, drink and to quote Stewie from Family Guy "Sexy party time".

Now you may think this seems slightly generic compared to the Gallows record but the point of this record is sometimes you just need to forget about it all and just rock out!

Overall an album that fans of the old style of rock and roll should definitely check out and play LOUD!
