A fast pace and abusive debut EP from Brighton boys ‘Brides’. This is an attractive debut EP, they make use of the growing breed of UK kids kicking up a stink in the post-hardcore scene and actually doing a half decent job. Brides would be one of those bands you see supporting and absolutely tearing up the stage with their bulldog approach to song writing. How long they will last, noone knows.

Aggression and energy just flows out of this band, yet they can keep their cool if the time is right. “Beholder” milks your heart opening with harmonies that could make a puppy cry. This shows off their young vocal talents to a high degree. The energy is then pumped back into the rest of the EP with some fast riffs and juxtaposed with some gruelling heavy drum beats. Gallows springs to mind when listening to Brides, just for the vocals though. Lead singer Max D'Albiac seems to battle with guitarist/singer Tristan Macfie in a frenzy of vocal abuse. At moments they seem to hit a Biffy Clyro style of riff making and structure, which work particularly well in the heavier sections. A lot of thought seems to have gone into this EP with intricate placement of stops and destroying harmonics.

Brides are only young and have only played together for a couple of years, yet they sound like they have been together for a lot along longer. The gel that binds the band has definitely leaked into this EP. They are young fresh and ready to rape your ears.

“Ocular.Unveil” …. Sounds like a disease, or some sort of erotic dance.
