So, seemingly a song about alcohol abuse by an overly polished boy band with instruments – not really my cup of tea. The problem here I think is that I enjoy alcohol abuse and hate boys bands with instruments but, I do suppose that bands realistically can’t please everyone!

‘Bottle After Bottle’ is admittedly, a short, snappy pop song that is just too upbeat and fluffy to dislike with a passion, but my god it tries its best to make you hate it. For starters, Kooks-esque vocals are NEVER a positive aspect of a track, even for The Kooks, so this combined with the most predictable and boringly written lyrics possible doesn’t really make for a great audio banquet. Don’t get me wrong, I understand the lyrics of the track and the message that the band are putting over but my point is that there are more suitable ways to do it with music i.e. NOT “You know how to ruin your life, you have a real nice kid and a beautiful wife.” Need I say more on the matter?!?

From doing some brief research on the band (as I always do for reviews) it is evident that they have a lot more support and genuine fans than most other bands of their calibre, and good for them, because these all seem to be girls around the age of 14-16. This age range of fan suits the music perfectly and is surely their desired target market. Unfortunately however, not being a 14 year old girl means that I am of the opinion that it is forgettable, disposable and just simply not good enough to cut the mustard with the already saturated genre of polished pop-punk.

Sorry guys.
