If Atari were a music label they would release music like Esser: filled with retro Electronica. Although there have been many comparisons drawn to a male Lily Allen, Esser is nothing but himself: using layered vocals in different pitches to create a strangely addictive, bouncy, fresh sound.

Who would’ve thought a song about being trapped would feel so free? There seems to be no wrong way to dance to “Headlock”. And dance you will - like a raving robot, which now I think about it, probably is a bit wrong.
“Headlock” is a brilliantly mixed track with ghetto poetry interlocking around the rhythm and a soft bass boom which adds a drop of danger to an otherwise bubble electric track.

“Headlock” catches your imagination and would be perfect in a club or even at a barbeque. Esser has created the perfect summer track, all we need now is the sunshine. With a new surge of confused wannabe bands all claiming to create new pop albums, Esser truly is a highlight in British pop and if "Headlock" is only the beginning, Lily Allen should watch her back - Esser will take over.
