Sean Fournier has once again crafted a masterwork of soulful introspection with "Oh My". A collection of reinterpreted singles and true originals, "Oh My" is a necessary procurement for fans of Fournier's previous work. On "Oh My", a refined pop ethic creates a sophisticated compositional style, which overlays a tumultuous sea of emotion. Fournier's crystal clear vocals speak of the restless stirrings of an unquiet heart. As thrilling as it is original, "Oh My"
will make even the most stalwart of stoics shed a tear for loves labour's lost.

As a lyricist, Fournier excels as always. In "Falling For You" we're offered a portrait of a man realizing the scope of his love only after his partner has left. What originally comes across as a charmingly romantic moment is soon discovered to be bitterly satirical, perhaps even self deprecating. In "Broken Stereo" we see a deeply personal, and universally understood, recounting of unrequited love.

A true stand out of "Oh My" comes from the end track, "Holding The Hand Of The Hurricane". Standing apart in form of the rest of "Oh My", "Holding The Hand Of The Hurricane" shows Sean Fournier really stretching his songwriting muscle. The eerily haunting backing vocals compliment a synthetic wash to Fournier’s vocal track. The effect, coupled with layered drum tracks, lends an intensity of passion to the denouement.

Sean Fournier is working hard for you to hear "Oh My". An expansive online campaign is underway, coupled with good, old-fashioned diy marketing. I particularly enjoyed the photo shopped pictures of Obama holding "Oh My". Though no matter how you come across this album, there is sure to be something here for you. As described in track 4, "Goodbye", there is "a special meaning in the thorn of dreams", and we can all find personal meaning in these barbed dreams of Sean Fournier's.

Hold on. What? You weren't a fan of this? Doesn't sound like that from you review. You are being honest about the way you feel when you write your reviews right? You're not just making it appear good because you think you have to are you?

We want musical honesty so if your review doesn't say what you feel about the album personally maybe you should re-visit the review?

Whoa, hold up. Can I just trash this guy or what? I was trying to be fair. Listen to it from the perspective of someone who might be into this kinda thing. Objective, right. I gave him a "D" and let my displeasure be known in such phrases as, "...as thrilling as it is original." Ya know, the insult disguised as a compliment. So you're telling me I can just offer my opinion from my perspective? I can be like, "This guy sucks." Obviously I'd say it better than that, but can I? Can I really? If so I'll keep that in mind for all future reviews.

I think it's good to be open minded and consider other's perspective when reviewing. I would just say you need to make sure it's clear that you are doing that - so to put it (very) simply as a random example:

"Their style is just too minimalistic to work for me, but for those who like a clear, uncluttered sound, then what this band have produced definitely has its merits"

Something like that anyway. It's not always easy to remember to look at things from another perspective (I know I often forget), and sometimes things look bad from all angles, but it's good to at least try.

I liked the writing in the review.

I personally liked the review a lot too I am just confused how you can talk about something so positively and yet not like it yourself.

"...as thrilling as it is original."

is definitely a compliment anyway, as in original - unique, individual rather than what I presume you meant to say, i,e, boring and nothing new.

Well not if he thinks it's not very original at all.

I think perhaps he just needed to be less subtle (ie "as thrilling as it is original (in the same way Hitler was as kind natured as he was politically correct)"
