The latest release from Leeds’ very own producer sensation T2 (the man who gave the world the impressively successful ‘Heartbroken’ a little while back) benefits from the same likeable traits and features that ensured that his previous releases kept clubs moving.

‘Come Over’ is like his biggest release to date, ‘Heartbroken’, in that it reserves itself to a politeness and refrains from becoming ‘in the listeners’ faces’, for want of a better expression. This therefore benefits the track in that it certainly does not become annoying and allows you to focus upon the music rather than the screechy synth patches that are frequently overused by many other producers these days. The blending of Michelle Escoffery’s breathy, soothing yet evidently powerful vocal with the clean, simple bassy beats and almost Casio-influenced melodies makes for a great, relaxed and understated listen. ‘Come Over’ reeks of Ibiza morning-after pool parties, and it is fortunately in these environments that it will truly come into its own. A sure fire-sunshine hit, this track would probably induce nausea and vomiting if it was listened to in the rain – it’s just not right.

Also featured on this promo CD are three remixes of Come Over – a ‘Club Edit’, ‘Skye Blue Mix’ and a ‘TRC Bassline Mix’. Unfortunately, the only of these mixes that are different enough from the original to merit a mention is the latter. With its (sometimes overly) punchy bass beats and the addition of a heavily grime influenced layer, the TRC mix adds a pinch of RnB and therefore creates a new identity for the track. However, when said grimey-synth kicks in, the bassy beats suddenly make sense and do not sound out of place as they previously had, resulting in a dirty-urban sound.

Although not radically different to anything else that we have heard from T2 in the past, Come Over is still a great track courtesy of its ability to creep into your brain and stay on your mind, all the while encouraging a positive mood with its well produced beats and likeable sound. If this isn’t normally your cup of tea, then don’t expect to be converted by "Come Over", but if it’s a light hearted, breezy and well produced minimalist pop track that you’re after then it seems difficult to imagine anybody not liking "Come Over".
