Hatesphere - To The Nines [Album] To The Nines is the 6th full-length release from Danish melodic death metal group, Hatesphere and what an album. This is what I love to hear. A band that can be brutal but without having to do it consistently for the whole length of an album. There are so many albums out there where the emphasis is purely on playing as fast and as loudly as possible. When allowing for a range of styles and dynamics you create an album that flows and changes in feel, and creates something that feels more like an album than simply a CD where all the tracks are completely interchangeable with very minimal differences between them. The vocals on To The Nines are harsh and brutal and are quite high in pitch without becoming screechy. They also follow the various dynamics of the tracks and will drop out for various amounts of time to let other instruments take focal point. The track ‘Commencing A Campaign’ is the middle track on To The Nines and brings a great dispersion between the moments of thrashy heaviness, giving you time to breath. It’s almost like an intro track to an album, which this album didn’t actually have. The production on To The Nines is really crisp, the guitars have a nice amount of gain, just enough that the sound is big and heavy but without losing definition, the vocals are well defined and the words are a lot easier to hear than a lot of death metal bands. To The Nines is a great album with great musicianship that is beautifully produced and finished. |
