Hudson Fall - The Factory [Single] Shall we mention The Coral early and get it out the way? After all Hudson Fall are Liverpudlian, so it's a given the stoner god-heads will turn up somewhere along the line. Fact is though, you can hear Hudson Fall's auspicious predecessors writ through every jangley note. This is no bad thing, especially when it's done with a nice little turn of phrase and an expansive chorus. The danger of course is that any kind of individuality gets drowned out and the listener wanders off to listen to the real thing. Hudson Fall have put the work in though. 'The Factory' is polished with tight performances from back line to lead and vocals - nothing has been half arsed. Occasionally the song steers a little too close to McFly doing a polka for my liking but they pull it back with some nice choppy little guitar parts. There's nothing here that'll blow you away but there is enough to hope that Hudson Fall's own ideas will eventually shine through the influences and we could end up with another great little indie pop band from a corner of the world well used to producing them. Hudson Fall: Not quite Falling into place just yet... |
