Crazy Arm- Broken By The Wheel [Single]

As part of the new wave of punk that’s growing in the UK at the moment comes Crazy Arm, a band hailing from Plymouth that describes themselves on their Myspace as jokingly, ‘Fugazi with banjos, but without banjos!’ They have also been endorsed by Liam and Mike from Cancer Bats (which given the interaction I had with those two back in May is not a bad one!)
The influence of Fugazi is very evident (even without the banjos…) from the start of "Broken by The Wheel" as Darren Johns describes a future of uncertainty by following certain people in what I assume is how he sees his home town of Plymouth going. There is however some influence of country intertwined in there too as you can hear from Darren and Dan Couling’s guitar throughout both songs contained on this single.
Overall "Broken By The Wheel" is something very different from the punk records that are normally released and is a FAR cry from the UK’s punk output a few years ago [pop-punk]. A welcome reprieve and I’m looking forward to hearing more from this band very soon!
