Sebastien Tellier is either a sex god or a musical pervert. The “Kilometer” EP features dirty synth, heavy breathing and erotic moaning. I can almost imagine him tweaking his nipples when he made this. The synth sounds similar to by Van Halen’s ‘Jump’ but 'Kilometer' was clearly made for Television X: Sebastien Tellier has made an EP to have sex to.
The original track ‘Kilometer’ is pretty basic but that gives fantastic flexibility for the remixes, which is just as well because the unmixed ‘Kilometer’ sounds like a TV show finalist attempting a Justin Timberlake cover.
‘A-Track Remix’ is like Electro-Seventies-Disco-Funk. This should be the released version as it’s pretty safe but fun at the same time, the moans are still loud and clear but contrasting with heavier electro they’re pretty funny.
EP highlight is track three “Kilometer (Aeroplane ‘italo 84’ Remix).” It's so Euro Pop you know it’s wrong, but it’s strong beats and easy tune will have you dancing within seconds: Easily comparable to Daft Punk or Kraftwerk for it’s distinct electro tune, it’s catchy and dirty even though it’s not exactly innovative. “Kilometer (Aeroplane ‘italo 84’ Remix)” is already familiar to your ears and you’ll know exactly what beats are coming where, but it’s a brilliant remix and would be perfect to ‘accidentally’ play at your best friend’s wedding.
'Kilometer (Arpanet Remix)' was not exactly a highlight, but so odd I had to mention it. If you ever wondered what Dracula listened to while bashing the bishop, this is it. Eerie Techno porn music.
The "Kilometer EP" is a lot of fun, although it will probably disappear into the current tsunami of Electro music. Sebastien Tellier has a lot of humour and talent and though I’ve not been completely seduced by this erotica tune, I’d let him by me a drink.
