Beat The Radar - Telephone Conversation (Single)

Beat The Radar - Telephone Conversation (Single)

Akoustik Anarchy Recordings

Reading the list of influences on the MySpace of Beat The Radar throws up little surprises once you've had a cheeky wee listen to 'Telephone Conversation' as they seem to resemble a mish-mash of quite a few of them thus making this track highly unoriginal but no less entertaining as when you are aiming to mimic the likes of The Smiths, Sonic Youth, The Fall, The Cure as long as you can pull it off to some degree then it's no bad thing but really what stands out for me is their striking similarity to two of the current scenesters on their little list those being Bloc Party and The Cribs you see Beat The Radar create that sort of urban edge sound that is laced with middle-class lyrics and vocal delivery thus giving them a rather bohemian tramp likeness.

So what can be derived from this, well let me tell you firstly if you are a fan of certain bands (see aforementioned) then Beat The Radar will no doubt tickle your fancy on the other-hand you may be slightly offended by them. Secondly is that whilst being nothing new or indeed old this is nonetheless a thoroughly enjoyable slice of punk-pop that ticks all the boxes required: shouty-bits, check - dicing guitars, check - anthemic overtures, check. There's probably more boxes in the list but my brain has waltzed off on a tidal-wave of angular guitars.
