DJ Food - One man's weird is another man's world [EP]

DJ Food - One man's weird is another man's world [EP]
With over 25 years of collective DJ experience, not to mention some of the top producers working both past and present on a number of DJ Food projects, its should come as no great shock to you that this EP is bursting with originality that can’t help but intrigue any listener. 'One Man's Weird Is Another Man's World' is defiantly worth a listen for any one that can appreciate music creativity and production experimentation.

Dance music, such as Dub step, Techno and Drum ‘n’ Bass has seemed to take off to new levels of popularity in mainstream music, but this isn’t your Run of the mill ‘DJ’ based EP that we are used to having dominate our radios and clubs, as the title, ‘One mans weird is another mans world’ would suggest.

Here we have a collection of outstanding tracks containing some of the most relaxing and ambient tones, most of which come backed by surprisingly upbeat rhythms, whilst also containing a strange selection of spoken word dialogue played over a number of tracks that could have easily have been sampled from self-help psychology tapes. The opening track, ‘The illectrik hoaks Ft. Natural self’, seems to stand out from the rest as it seems to be the only one with a kind of Indie/Rock feel to it due to it being very guitar centric, making it sound more like a band rather than a DJ-created song.

This all sounds like an odd mix I know, but it defiantly works great in this particular case. That being said, this is not going to send you off in a hypnotic trance or anything like that but, it definitely packs a beat. DJ Food shows influences taken from all kinds of music from genres like Tribal, African and even jungle to name a few, most of which you can hear emphasized in the rhythm and beats that propel this particular installment of the DJ Food saga.

Almost every track contains a well-blended collection of samples that form a rich tapestry of sound and tones, which I think makes it all the more interesting to listen to. Take into account these influences, as well as the use of sounds, tones and beats.

DJ Food: Strictly Kev has spawned a Psychedelic/Ambient/Dub/Trip-Hop Monster that cant help but impress.
