Chew The Leg Off Records (Out Now)
Hailing from Halifax, Nova Scotia (which is an island just outside of Canada for the curious ones amongst us) come the latest band to try and break an already over-saturated metalcore scene.
According to their website influences include the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal from the 80's, Mastodon style progressive, bit of doom and the sounds popularised by Trivium etc over the past few years.
There lies the problem however... in order to stand out from the scene nowadays you need to try and be a little bit different (granted Uncooperative try this with 'The Blame' which reminds me of the instrumentals done by punk bands from the UK including SSS)
However some songs such as 'Murderous Apotheosis' do have the same structure as the bands that Uncooperative feel happy with (good riffs but same content vocally as so many others), the vocalist tries to mix screaming whilst trying to do his best Mastodon impression in the same song which doesn't work too well in this case...
Not to say it's a bad album (otherwise it would have been Trashcan) but I doubt it'll make a big impact on the grand scheme of metal, a valiant effort though for trying from these guys and hopefully I can be a bit more positive next time they bring out material!
