Deathwish
It doesn’t matter if you’re a fan of punk rock or heavy metal, here Pulling Teeth deliver their own brand of music that is keeping true to both scenes with a gritty and heavy sound to satisfy the needs of all rock fans.
The Baltimore based band Pulling Teeth have released a number of albums and EP’s since their debut ‘Vicious Skin’ back in 2006, and ‘Paranoid delusions | Paranoid Illusions’ is their latest musical monster.
The 5 track strong EP is packed with heavily distorted guitars, juggernaut like drums and shouted punk vocals that results in a musical army of pure aggression ready to blow your speakers to shreds.
Fans of the heavier side of music would love the down tempo aggressive tones and styling’s here, and the occasional heavy metal influenced riff gives the EP a real kick, right up until the melodic climax of the closing title track. Tracks like ‘Bloodwolves’ are definitely worth checking out if you love the sound of insane guitar solos played over high-speed double kick drums.
The raw sound of this EP gives off an angry and aggressive tone taking hardcore punk/metal to new levels for 2009. The heavy 5 piece have definitely created an fascinating mix of brilliant lyrics layered upon a gritty musical backdrop to make Pulling Teeth almost a genre of their own.
I will say that this kind of music usually doesn’t appeal to me for the most part, but Pulling Teeth have definitely got enough of a raw style that isn’t produced to sound like anything other than themselves doing what they do best. With today’s music being tweaked to perfection, its refreshing to know that there are still bands out there who create studio albums that would sound no different than if you were to see them playing live shows. 'Paranoid Delusions | Paradise Illusions' is a must for all fans of the heavier side of music.
