Carolina Liar - Coming To Terms [Album]

Carolina Liar - Coming To Terms [Album]

Atlantic

Any band or artist, of any genre to mention "Myspace" in their album has got some serious answers to, well, answer.

By sticking to a Hoobastank song writing style and rhythm, Carolina Liar successfully create sing along, easy to listen to music. Continuous plays build your appreciation for the sound that Carolina Liar are trying to create. 'Coming to Terms' is a simplistic bunch of songs that do work and offer some great potential. You just feel there is something lacking in the talent, there is some kind of deep hole yet to be discovered by their sound. It's a little too poppy.

Described as "Rock", 'Coming To Terms' sounds a little more Acoustic, folk rock to me. There is an American desert like feel to it. Some of the tunes conjure up images of driving through the middle of nowhere forgetting about all the problems that exist in the world. As predictable as the music world can be, Carolina Liar have made music to feature in such shows as 'One Tree Hill' and 'Gossip Girl'. It wouldn't be of any surprise to be the next soundtrack to a fake American lifestyle TV reality show, something like 'The Hills'. Some might say that 'Coming To Terms' is slightly boring.

Carolina Liar pump through twelve tracks in an upbeat frenzy of catchy choruses, simple guitar chords with the essence of The Fray's song writing style. It's funny to hear the band attempting a little attitude in their music with "All That Shit Is Gone", with gave a good go of big build ups and a more aggressive approach. They make use of a mixture of live drum sounds and some quite strange MIDI sounding snares and bass kicks very well. 'Better Alone' features a more electronic drum beat throughout and opener 'I'm Not Over' begins with some terrible sounding snare rolls. Having said that they fit quite well into the overall sound of Caolina Liar.

This is nothing new, Keane have pretty much made this album before so for the fan's of "that sort of music" they will have no problem munching away on this pop rock.
