Christina Courtin - Foreign Country [Single] 1 Attachment(s) Marketed as a mirror of her journey from Buffalo, New York to Juilliard to play on live music stages, New York resident Christina Courtin's 'Foreign Country' sounds more like a very short trip from Bob's country bunker to Blue Note's jazz club. The former Juilliard violin student decided during her school years to use her voice as an instrument instead of the violin and it's quite obvious that regretting that decision is something she will never do. Christina Courtin sounds so happy performing this song and despite a strange but clever combination of country music and jazz melodies, it's the sunshine in her voice that really lifts"Foreign Country" to a higher level. It's going to be a bit of a struggle for purists as she deliberately goes for the experimental edge by using tingle tangle country guitars and Billie Holiday era melodies. Open minded music listeners and free spirits would appreciate listening to her. A true piece of country and jazz. ![]() |
