Richard Walters deals (from this evidence) in the kind of sensitive folk music espoused by Nick Drake and John Martyn back in the day and Scott Matthews and Conor Oberst from modern day music. 'True Love Will Find You In The End' is not an exciting song and it won't set the world on fire but, throughout it's brief duration it manages to find beauty in simplicity both lyrically and musically.

Despite taking it's opening bars almost part for part from Green Day (that song about September) 'True Love Will Find You In The End' is a subtle and affecting little number with a gentle, lilting melody and a clear, lo-fi production.

Walters brittle voice brings to mind Fyfe Dangerfield of The Guillemots but without the irritating histrionics and the simple guitar patterns are backed effectively by a sole cello. Lyrically it's simple stuff with well worn platitudes taking the places of cryptic poetry but it suits the songs sentiment. It's the kind of songs Lennon and McCartney would have written for the first couple of Beatles albums if their luck with the ladies had been a little less fortunate.

By no means a barnstormer then, but a song that really pulls at the heartstrings and should whet the appetite for Walters debut album.
