It's quite amazing that bands who come up with perfect little pop songs, full of intelligent lyrics and brilliant melodies don't even get a fraction of the exposure that hit parade quality bands used to get in the sixties and seventies. Bands like Magnetic Fields, Saturday Looks Good To Me and Of Montreal have got everything their famous predecessors didn't have and though they might not really care about it themselves, small-scale tours and marginal album sales is everything they will ever get.

Next in line is Brighton based band Foxes!, whose single 'Who Killed Rob?' contains everything you need to get yourself out of the house, pick flowers and be happy. Production-wise the song, sliced in three stories / melodies, is quite neatly built. From the blended voices of Kayla and Adam Bell and the playful lead guitar in the intro to the subtle synthesizery sounds coming up later on, 'Who Killed Rob' is a nice piece of work, both as a song and as a production.

The band succeed in creating their own sound as well, mainly thanks to their unique (though sometimes classic eighties sounding) drums, synths and sixties guitar, as is also the case in 'Bunny Rabbits (Chip and Dale)' and 'Albania', respectively song number two and three on the single.

If this is just a glimpse of their upcoming debut album, Foxes! is, without a doubt, going to be a nice addition in the line of heavily underrated indie pop bands.
