Let's see now... it says here in this bumpf that The Brent Flood should be bringing to mind Interpol, Doves and Morning Runner. Umm...No.

No, no, no (actually I'm gonna give you Morning Runner - you sure you really want them?). There is no Interpol darkness and there are no huge souring Doves anthems but that's not to say there isn't anything of worth to take heart from. Loads of people dug Travis and I'm sure those same people would likely find something to enjoy in these five well made, radio friendly pop songs.

Title track 'Katy McCain' is a good solid example of the old picked guitar line leading to big chorus, repeat, bridge, repeat. There's nothing wrong with it at all. But Snow Patrol and, of course, world eaters Coldplay do it bigger and better so do you really need to buy a Brent Flood EP? Well that's like asking if you need to buy a Jessica Simpson record if you own a Christina album: There's always room for one more. If this is your thing then this is your thing; go to it.

'Pleasureseeker' is a singalong number. Enough to capture its own fair share of fans willing to belt it back to them at festivals whilst 'Kiss The Dirt' and 'Steady Eddie' don't let the side down and 'Thieving Hands' rounds things off nicely.

It's all a bit too slick, and a bit too vapid for my own tastes but there is plenty for The Brent Flood to be proud of here. If they can take this show on the road and gain some popular momentum I see no reason why you wont be reading a full album review on Altsounds.com some time soon. That is however with a major label's wedge backing them up.
